On 6th February, the great Ennio Morricone will be performing live at Kraków’s Tauron Arena – the artist who has composed the scores to over 500 films for the big and small screen, and over 100 independent works. He was nominated for an Oscar 5 times and received an honorary Academy Award in 2007 for his contributions to film music. The most memorable films featuring his music include “The Mission” (1986), “The Untouchables” (1987), “The Professional” (1981), “A Fistful of Dollars” (1964), and “Cinema Paradiso” (1988). The exceptional variety of Morricone’s artistic works stems from his inspirations in classical, jazz and even electronic, pop, rock and avant-garde music. He is a true master at creating the atmosphere of a film.
The concert is part of a tour entitled „60 YEARS OF MUSIC WORLD TOUR”, planned to celebrate Morricone’s 60 years of work as a composer and director. The artist will be performing with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Over 200 musicians and vocalists will appear on stage with Morricone. The performance will include his best known works, but there will also be a few surprises, such as pieces from his latest film score for The Hateful Eight (2015), which won an Oscar, a Golden Globe and the New York Film Critics’ Circle Award.
The artist’s concerts attract large crowds, and his last tour was attended by over 350,000 fans. His last performance in Poland was in Kraków in February 2015.
The concert will take place in one of the newest and most cutting-edge sports and entertainment arenas in Poland. It is located only 4 km from the Main Market Square, not far from the beautiful Park Lotników (Pilots’ Park). It boasts three tiers of audience seating, advanced multimedia systems, and excellent acoustic conditions. Tickets are priced from 179 złoty to as much as 679 złoty.
