The name of this restaurant is a tribute to one of the most popular Polish mountain lakes. The Morskie Oko restaurant resembles a mountain lodge and the food served there is clearly inspired by Polish cuisine from the mountain region. If you are in Krakow and have no time for a trip to Zakopane, you can still feel the mountain climate in the very centre of Krakow, at Plac Szczepanski 8. The Morskie Oko restaurant is a spacious place, with wooden tables, candlelight and warmth from a fireplace. The waitresses wear traditional Polish costumes and serve huge portions of delicious food. The menu is rich in excellent meat dishes including lamb, beef, ribs, pork knuckle, accompanied by sumptuous gravies, pierogi, and delicious homemade cakes for dessert. Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains is known for kwaśnica góralska (sauerkraut soup) which is, of course, served at Morskie Oko. The place offers a wide variety of alcohols and alcoholic drinks, some of them inspired by mountain cuisine. Since the restaurant has several rooms, is is a perfect place not only for dates and dinners with friends or family (special menu for children), but also for bigger parties. Excellent service and authentic mountain live music make dining in Morskie Oko an unforgetable experience.
